Clearing
The presence of Absence
A group show at Queen Street Studios, Belfast in 2021. Our 2019 MFA cohort gathered together to have our first exhibition open to the public once covid restrictions had eased.
Installation
For this show I created a site specific installation which situated within a light well in the gallery space.
The Leaves and branches hung above were made from cardboard and paper, held up in layers by string.
The natural light would illuminate the piece, it would ebb and flow in tandem with the changing weather outside, sometimes giving a warm hue at sunset and sunrise. The plastic dome above would amplify the sound of rain, the material would enclose the viewer isolating the sound further.
